The meeting is the day I leave for home---next year, I hope.

Who attended?

    •  Good discussion, good people!
    •  This was the first philosophy cafe in English with the help and participation of Meetup. It was very succesful both due to the amount of people present and in my opinion due to a good and fruitful debate. As usual the topic was chosen at the beginning and it as then discussed, with many interesting insights. "Are we ourselves only when we are alone" was the phrasing of this topic about identity.
    •  Topic was "Can you only be yourself when one is alone?"
    •  I found it interesting (first time I've attended). A positive was the willingness of people to contribute and I found the literary input interesting. Negative was lack of focus on the philosophical aspects (if any) of the topic chosen -- more guidance here might be good, though the summarizer (Laure?) did a great job trying to tie the disparate threads together under very difficult circumstances. The format -- passing the mike -- may make it difficult to elevate any direct disagreements into a back-and-forth discussion. Maybe there is too much "I think..." and "Well I think..." rather than dialogue.

It was difficult to avoid clichés in the discussion around the question of loneliness and selfhood. It also seems inevitable that such a question give rise to people telling about their personal life stories.
    •  Nice atmosphere and a real debate around a topic that interests most of us. It helped me to put in order my thoughts ! I really appreciated and look forward for the next café, hoping that it will be possible to me to attend
