We had our first meeting last night, Wednesday, March 26th, at the Rockrimmon Branch of the Pikes Peak Library System. I'm understandably biased (I'm the organizer/moderator), but, for a first meeting, I think it was a resounding success. Five people participated, and, after a half hour of preliminary conversation (Welcoming remarks. When and where should we hold our next meeting? What topics would be of greatest interest? How will the discussions be conducted? etc.), we had an hour and a half of animated, really insightful discussion. I'm now very optimistic that, in the coming weeks, the group will grow in size and be the discussion forum I was hoping for when I decided to organize the group.

If you were hesitant about attending out of fear you might be one of the only people in attendance, don't be; you wouldn't have been and you won't be at any future meetings. And don't assume, because you see so few RSVP's on this Meetup.com sight, that attendance will be "light". I'm publicizing the group in several different ways, and people WILL be there who are not yet registered on our web site.

If you WOULD have attended if only the meeting had been scheduled at another time, stay tuned. Our NEXT meeting will be on a different day of the week ... hopefully one better suited to your schedule. And, now that we've "tested the waters", we'll be scheduling more frequent meetings. So, if you can't make it to the next one, perhaps you can make it to the one after that.

Sincerely,

Vernon
