Event Description: Socrates Cafe is starting its fifth year in Teaneck. Like the hundreds of other Socrates Cafes around the country and the world, it is dedicated to the belief that ideas make a difference and that it is important for us all to develop our skill at thinking more deeply and critically about things that affect us personally and as members of society.
The group meets the first and third Monday of each month from mid-September to early June. One topic is selected each meeting by those attending. These range from the sublime ("What is Beauty?" or "What is Love?") to the political ("Is pre-emptive war ever justified?") to, well, anything you suggest that engages others who are there that evening.
Coffee and snacks are served, and each meeting is facilitated (not led) by a person with experience in group dynamics. Discussions finish by 9 p.m.
