Introduction
I've been studying philosophy since the ripe ole' age of 13 when my junior high school counselor taught me that my attitude & beliefs were much like that of an "existentialist". It's difficult to find like minded friends. Hoping that will change here

  •  Hi AM,

Sorry for the delay I've been preparing for a business trip that I'm going on next week and It's been crazy. I should have mentioned it before hand, my appologies. In terms of the book. His concept of "awakening" is interesting, but I'm not long for this genre. I majored in philosophy from pre-socratic through early modern... with a bunch of psych courses in between so I lean more toward the classics in liturature, pholosophy, theology, etc. Let's catch up after 5/12. •  Hmmm...now that's interesting....tell me more. I'll pick up a copy so we can discuss. Oh, is there a better way to reach you, e.g., via email?

  •  By the way, I'm guessing that AM is one of three things. (a) your initials. (b) a clever way of expressing your existential disposition or (c) you're a morning person :)

  •  I know what you mean. I read an excerpt on Amazon. The first chapter can be a bit boring, dragging you through basic arguments for religion. Perhaps he's just setting it up, i.e., "religion" of its self is good and from there build the case for the rest of his argument...are you reading it with anyone? I'd be glad to pick up a copy and discuss it with you. I'm currently reading Boethius' Consolation of Philosophy. also addresses the suffering question but in prose...grabbed me on page 1
